RUSHTON, Alfred James - Born May 19, 1942 in Halifax, Nova Scotia. Passed away peacefully at his home surrounded with the love of his family, after a brave battle with Cancer on Jan.30, 2013 in his 71st year. Loving son of the late Cecil Richard Rushton, and Alice Alfreda Heartry. Beloved brother of Sandra (Mitchell), Janet, and John (Irene) Rushton. Uncle Al to many nieces and nephews. He will also be fondly remembered by his many friends and peers within the literary communities of Brantford and Toronto. A lifelong advocate for the Arts and the Written Word. Al will be fondly remembered as a passionate author of stage plays, novels & poetry, and was a long time member of Theatre Brantford and the Dufferin Players. He wrote and acted in many plays. Friends will be received at the Beckett-Glaves Family Funeral Centre, 88 Brant Ave., Brantford on Monday from 2 - 3 p.m. A Funeral Service will follow in the Chapel on Monday at 3:00 p.m. Cremation. Donations to the the Stedman Community Hospice would be appreciated. A tree will be planted in memory of Al in the Beckett-Glaves Memorial Forest.
