I have been friends with Alfred for over 25 years. He was easy to like and love, but a little eccentric. I started typing for him almost right away. He was still using an old typewriter and trying to decipher the typeovers or his hand scribbles was almost impossible at first, but soon became second nature. I always felt honoured when he would say I was the first to read this play or this book. I enjoyed typing and reading everything he gave me and will miss doing this for him. I will miss his stories and his joking around. He was a wonderful person.
Dear John, we know how difficult it is for you and your family at this time. Keep all Alfi's memories fresh in your mind and smile at the silly ones as oftern as you can. Luv you guys.
I will miss your terribly, Alfred. I always felt honoured that I was the one to read your writings first, and type them up for you, while trying to decipher your atrocious handwriting. You will always be in my heart. You were truly a good friend.
From you I gained a love of the arts and of words and of the CBC. I will miss you terribly Uncle Al. Love Sue
