Obituary of Douglas Memmott

MEMMOTT, Douglas Stuart - The family announces with sadness the sudden passing of Douglas Stuart Memmott in his 67th year, at the Hamilton General Hospital on Thursday, November 1st, 2012. Doug was the beloved husband of Sharon. Proud and devoted dad of Jeff. Dear brother and friend of John (Carol). He was predeceased by his parents, Hilda and Robert. Doug was the loving son-in-law of Florence and the late Roy, caring brother-in-law of Graham and Nancy, Bonnie and the late Norm, and cherished uncle of Melissa, Erin, Jennifer, Greg, Jonathon and Bradley. Doug was a dedicated teacher and principal of the Grand Erie District School Board for 34 years. Active in the community, Doug was a past member of Big Brothers and Paris Lions Club, and was the current President of the Brantford Numismatic Club. Doug was a sportsman who enjoyed racquetball, swimming and basketball. He was an avid collector of books, movies and all kinds of music. At Doug's request cremation has taken place. Friends are invited to share in a celebration of Doug's life at the Beckett-Glaves Family Funeral Centre, 88 Brant Avenue, on Saturday, November 10th from 7-9 p.m. Donations to the Heart & Stroke Foundation or a charity of your choice would be greatly appreciated. A Tree will be planted in memory of Doug at the Beckett-Glaves Memorial Forest.
