Condolences
I was just spending a little time looking and thinking about some of my past teachers. Mr. Memmott was one teacher that I have never forgotten. I think for me he was really tough which is what I needed at the time. He was more then a fair man and I can still hear him laugh with me after all these years.
Sharon and Jeff, I talked with my dad over the weekend and was saddened to hear the news of Doug's passing. What I remember are the stories and the schemes he would talk about over the fence in our backyard. He always spoke with enthusiam and was a great guy to be around. My thoughts and sympathies are with you.
Sharon, I am so sorry to hear of the loss of your husband, Doug. Please know that you are in my thoughts and prayers during this difficult time. Jen McMillan and family
Dear Sharon and Jeff, We are so very sorry to hear about Doug. He has been a part of our lives, first as Principal at Grandwoodlands when our children attended and again when he was Principal at Grand View when Jane taught there. She says it was great to work with him, as he was always so understanding and helpful. And for a little while he was a Lion with Jim in Paris. It was a pleasure to know him. We wish you the best. Our deepest sympathies.
Sharon and family, I am so sorry to hear of your terrible loss. There are no words that can express the loss of a loved one. I know you will miss Doug immensely. Larry Cleves
We are so sorry to hear of Doug's passing. We had happy times together with Sharon and Doug when our daughters Michelle and Kim were toddlers watching home movies together. Doug was the best friend anyone could imagine.Generous and Kind, funny and caring, loyal and compassionate. He will be remembered by his family and friends for all the lives that he touched.
We are so sorry to hear of Doug's sudden death. Our sincerest sympathy to the family.
Like John Reynolds, I have known Doug most of my life;we were St.Andrews Boys. Doug was always very competitive but quiet and I will never forget a trip we took together at the end of the summer in 1964. I was fortunate to rekindle that friendship in later years and will miss Doug as will all who were fortunate enough to have known him.
I was very saddened to hear of Mr. Memmott's passing. I still remember his kind presence from public school when he was my vice-principal. My sincerest sympathy to his family. May he rest in peace.
Dear Sharon, I was saddened to hear the passing of your husband. Our thoughts and prayers are with you.
Hi Sharon and Jeff. I am so sorry to read of Doug’sdeath in the paper this morning. We were good friends over the years. Right from when he taught in St. George and I in Germans Central. I always liked Doug very much. I have never met you Jeff but with the genes you carry I know you must be qality. Because it suggests the heart and stroke foundation I am assuming Doug died of a stroke or heart attack. I will not be at the funeral home on Saturday as I would love to be but I will be thinking of You and Doug and Jeff. It’s a very sad time I know. I am typing this with only my right hand as I don’t have the use of the fingers in my left hand because on Aug. 27 I had a severe stroke and was in the hospital until Oct.4. I am now learning to walk with a cane. I am not secure enough yet and can’t take a chance in falling. Iwish you both lots of strength. Times will get better! Cam Martindale
Sharon and Jeff:We are so very sorry for your sudden and unexpected loss.Doug was a generous caring man.I consider it an honour to have had him as my best friend for over fifty years. As couples we shared many happy events and memories.I have no words that can help to ease the pain that I know you are feeling. All I can say is that we were lucky to have had Doug in our lives even if it was for too short a time.We will miss him every day.
Sharon & Jeff, we are so sorry to read about Doug's passing. He was highly respected by teachers and every one he knew. He will be greatly missed. He was a positive influence on so many people. We remember watching many Briers basketball games together. Our thoughts and prayers go out to your family at this difficult time.
Doug was my best friend as a boy growing up in Galt. For a time we lived next door to each other, and we did everything together, often with a very competitive spirit. Everyone who knows me also has heard of Doug. I was disappointed in missing him at this summer's St.Andrew's reunion. I am used to carrying him in my heart. And there he will remain.
Sharon,we are so sorry for your loss. Doug was such a kind and soft spoken friend. Pete remenbers the days with Doug and "all the guys" from the early years on the Galt Swim team and lifeguarding together. We shared many happy times with you and Doug over the years and will treasure those memories. This warm, gentle friend will be missed and our thoughts are with you, Jeff and the family.

It was with sadness and surprise that I read the news about Doug. Just recently he chaired a meeting of the numismatic group and I remember speaking with him. He was a real gentleman and will be sadly missed. My condolences to his family.
Doug and I were child hood friends and neighbours for about 18 years. We have been meeting for the past few years with all our child hood friends and classmates. We will all miss Doug and give are love to his family.
The Royal Canadian Numismatic Association, the Ontario Numismatic Association and the Waterloo Coin Society share our deepest condolences and sympathies with Doug's family. Doug was a great leader in the numismatic hobby and was a dedicated volunteer. We have lost a wonderful friend. Our thoughts go out to all those whose lives Doug has touched as we all celebrate the ways in which he did.
It's with sad heart many numismatic clubs and associations learned today of Doug's passing, he will be dearly missed by hundreds. Not just because he would correct our stories, but because he was sincerely a kind and giving human being, who treated everybody with courtesy, kindness and respect. He had a thirst for knowledge and loved to share his discoveries. Goodbye Gentle Giant, your leadership of BNS will always be respected and remembered, you were fully for democracy, teamwork and collaboration.
Doug was a good friend and I will miss his sense of humour and willingness to share his knowledge. On behalf of the Brantford Numismatic Society, I would like to leave my sincere condolences to Sharon and family.
