Obituary of Marnie Forsyth

Marjorie 'Marnie' Forsyth died peacefully on Thursday, June 8th, 2023, at the age of 92. Marjorie was predeceased by parents Frederick and Eleanor Smith and husband Robert Forsyth. Also predeceased by sisters Eleanor (Bill) Slaven and Barbara (George) Baker and nephew Alan Baker. Marnie will be missed by her nephews, Brent (Pat) and Scott (Sonya) Slaven and their families and ‘Bud’ Baker, all of London. And of course, also by her cats, Jet,Tibby, Topaz, Elizabeth (all deceased) and by Whitney who was with her until the end. Special thanks to Lou, Tom, Lydia and Pat who helped care for her over the past number of years which allowed her to continue to live independently in her apartment. Marnie had a very successful 40 year career at the SC Johnson (Johnson’s Wax) Company in Brantford. After her retirement, she continued to be active in the SCJ retirement community, participating in many social activities. Always healthy and active, she finally gave up teaching Tai Chi in her 80’s. Known for her dry sense of humour, she was always quick witted. If you took the time to listen, you were often left smiling or laughing with the one liners that she would come up with. Family and friends will be received on Friday, June 16th from 10-11:00 a.m. at Beckett-Glaves Family Funeral Centre, 88 Brant Ave., Brantford, 519-752-4331. As per Marnie’s wishes, a brief service will take place in the chapel at 11:00am. Interment to follow at Mount Hope Cemetery. If desired, donations to the Brant County SPCA would be appreciated. A tree will be planted in memory of Marnie in the Beckett-Glaves Memorial Forest.
