Condolences
I am so sorry to read about Barbs passing.
I was a co-worker at the family store and remember her fondly. It was truly a pleasure to know her.
Please accept my heartfelt condolences to the entire family.

My mother kindly sent me Barbara's obituary. She was my girl guide leader over 30 years ago. Please accept my condolences to all of her family and friends. I wanted to take a moment to honour what a wonderful woman she was and the impact she had on me as a young girl. I loved guiding and cherished our weekly meetings with her at the helm. I was always sad when we took a summer break and looked forward to resuming in the fall. I still have my uniform, camp hat and my badge sash. I think I am most appreciative though of the introduction to the outdoors and camping. I have such fond memories of Camp Teka and hearing Barb's beautiful singing voice around the campfire. Neither of my parents were into camping and this introduced me to a passion that brought me west to the mountains to be able to live more fully and explore the backcountry hiking, backpacking and paddling in the Rocky Mountains. I thank Barb for opening up this world to me. As an adult who holds community service in high regard, I appreciate now the countless hours she dedicated to guiding and how critical the spirit of volunteerism is to our communities and social fabric. As such, I have made a donation to the Girl Guides of Canada in Barb's memory as she was a wonderful light that lit a flame many years ago. I will continue to carry her wonderful spirit with me in the mountains of Banff.

To Barb's family and friends - I was so sorry to hear of Barb's passing. My daughter Olivia and I were fortunate to know Barb through Guides in St. George. I was a new Guide leader and also new to the area, and Barb welcomed both of us and with her friendly manner and welcoming smile. I'm sure Barb's memory will live on in the many lives she touched.
