Condolences
I was very sad to hear of the passing of Mildred as she was a lovely person - so very kind and generous. I first met Mildred when I was a young teacher at Burford DHS and coached volleyball. We reconnected when I became President of Brantford Music Club. I always looked forward to seeing her at the concerts at the Sanderson Centre and will definitely miss her smile and good wishes. She was very generous to BMC and for that I would like to express our heartfelt appreciation.
Deepest sympathy.

Miss McMillan began her teaching career at PDHS at the same time I began grade 9 there. She was not only a great teacher but a fine role model .She gave me opportunities to thrive and to develop leadership qualities that have been helpful all of my career and in my life. I will continue to remember her fondly.

On behalf of Laurier Brantford, I would like to express my sincere condolences to Mildred’s family and friends. Mildred’s support for educational opportunities for our students has made a tremendous impact on many lives; in just the past six years she sponsored students’ international study and provided the foundational funding for our undergraduate research initiative which has now turned into a large week-long celebration of student and faculty research. She supported guest lectures for the whole community, and the bridge program for students starting at Laurier’s Brantford campus. Her commitment to the Brantford community, and her support for Laurier students in particular, is truly inspiring.
On a personal note, I will miss Mildred very much. We had many invigorating and interesting conversations over the past years, over lunch, tea, and walking through her beautiful garden. She was a remarkable person who made a big difference to those around her.

To Mildred's family and many friends I pass on my sincere condolences!
I had only know Mildred for the last 14 years or so. We met as I was knocking on her door for the Cdn Diabetes Association. The friendship began with tea and cookies that afternoon! What a lady.
We shared many conversations since. Her love of travel and photography, sewing etc were delightful. She took great interest in a trip to the Home of Hope, an orphanage in Malawi which I attended with two other ladies. She supported this for many years and always wanted to see the latest pictures. Some of her donated fabric appeared as sundresses on the children.
After the pandemic was over we were going for drive for an ice cream!! I wish that could have happened.
" Rest in peace dear Mildred".

The Little String Orchestra would like to extend our condolences to Mildred's family. Mildred was a wonderful lady who supported the orchestra throughout it's 43 years. It is so special to us that Mildred enjoyed the orchestra's concerts and followed many of our musicians from when they began at a young age throughout their careers. Rest in peace Mildred.
Sincere condolences to the family. I remember Mildred and her Mom coming to visit me on a Sunday afternoon when I was at the Ontario Athletic Leadership Camp near Orillia.
She also accompanied me to the London Free Press Banquet.
She was always so supportive, cheerful and kind. Great Basketball, volleyball Coach and PE teacher.
Blessings to the family.

My family was very saddened to learn of Mildred's passing. My father Bob Lainson spent most of his career working along side Mildred in the pyhs ed department at PDHS. My sisters and I all had her as our teacher and mentor. She was an amazing lady.
WOW! It sure sounds like Mrs. Barrie lead an amazing life full of travel around the world. I have fond memories of her as my PE teacher at PDHS; she might have been small but she was mighty! RIP Mrs. Barrie!

I am so sorry to hear of Mildred's passing. She has supported me and my musical career since the early 70's when she was my high school teacher in Paris. She was one of the few teachers who understood my commitment to music and continued to follow me when I started the Little String Orchestra back in 1977. She was at almost every concert we did for over forty years and watched the students grow up as I did. I will never forget her kindness and compassion. May she rest in peace. Virginia Little
I actually never met Mildred but what a legacy! I worked at PDHS from 1986-2018 and I heard stories of her everywhere I went. She was so respected and loved!! RIP Mildred.
