Obituary of Thelma Holmes

HOLMES, Thelma Catherine (nee Skelton) On Friday December 21st, 2018 Thelma Catherine Holmes passed away at the age of 97. Thelma was born December 6, 1921 in Montreal, Quebec. The Skeltons and the Holmes were neighbors in Montreal. Thelma met Douglas Holmes in 1930 when she was nine. In October 1949 they were married. They raised two daughters Sheila and Pam. In 1983 Thelma and Doug moved to Brantford Ontario where they found a fantastic group of new friends. Bridge in Brantford is a serious business and Thelma was so happy to join that elite group. Thelma pursued a successful career in marketing and later in the travel industry. A dedicated Volunteer she donated countless hours to the IODE and in Brantford, her Church and Glenhyrst Art Gallery. Preceded in death by her father Daniel Skelton , her mother Norah Skelton, her brother Spencer, sister Eva Hainey and her beloved Doug. She is survived by her daughters, her son-in-law Chris Alborough and many cherished nieces and nephews and their families. Friends will be received at the BECKETT - GLAVES FAMILY FUNERAL CENTRE, 88 Brant Avenue, 519-752-4331, on Friday, December 28th, 2018, from 11:00 am to 1:00 pm. A Funeral Service will follow the Chapel at 1:00 p.m. In lieu of flowers, donations to the Brantford Humane Society or the Stedman Community Outreach Program would be greatly appreciated.
