there isn't a day that has gone by that i have yet to miss you, there is so much i wish you were here to see, so much missed advice, i have so many fond and loving memories but there were so many more memories that needed to be made, i still can't belive you aren't here with us. i still keep waiting for you to come home to us. I would give anything just to have you here, at least for just one more day, to tell you how much you impacted my life, to tell you you were the father i never had, just to tell you how mcuh you are loved and that i will see you one day soon. its so hard without you here. i love you pappa and i miss you so much.

I am 22 at the time, and walk into my very first meeting at SC Johnson. I am like a deer in head lights, excited, but extremely nervous. This guy walks up to me and says, you are Greg Staley the new sales rep, I say, yes sir. He says, I'm John O'Brien, you come and sit with me. I thought he was the president of the company and did as he said. Turned out he wasn't the president, but he was a great guy that saw a nervous kid. Almost 20 years later, Big John would call me every few weeks to make sure I was ok and still on a good path. Recently he stopped working with Liquidation World and I was very excited. I told him several times over the past year, if that deal ever ends not to worry as I had lots of work for him and looked forward having him on my team. I called only last night, to see if he was ready to start and heard the news of his passing. I can honestly say, I loved Big John like the Grand Dad I never had and will miss him dearly.

We were devastated to hear the news. John was an amazing husband , father and grandfather and we saw it every day. He always had a way of making you smile no matter what was going on! It was an honour to know John and to work with him these past 10 years, he always had a cheerful word and smile as he walked through the boardroom door and he will always be remembered as a True Gentleman.
