Dear Dave, Liz and family, my sincerest sympathies, i am so sorry for your loss. Jacqueline
Earl's passing marks the end of an era in our little Canelot. The village is larger, wealthier, maybe more sophisticated, but not the same. It's the end of my childhood. God bless.
Joyce and Family Thinking of you during this terrible time in you lives. The last time we visited Ontario Joyce and Earl had us over for dinner and would you believe a tornado knocked the steeple off the united church. That didn't stop us! We just kept on with dinner anyway. We haven't been back to Ontario since, and by the way dinner was a rush. Lillian (Theresa's sister from Boylston,Nova Scotia)
Joyce and Family We are so sorry for your loss as you bring some type of closure to this very difficult time in your lives. As kids Earl filled our bike tires with air, as adults our cars and trucks. He has watched our family grow and met our kids, grand kids and great grand kids as they have come along. He witnessed twins and triplets and always had a nod of approval with that crooked smile. He attended dinners, holidays, graduations and weddings with Joyce. It wouldn't be a family affair without you both. As kids all 3 generations of the Hardy clan enjoyed a caramel or 2. I was recently married and true to form my children were chewing on caramels in their tuxedos- Wonder where they got those ....(Earl!!) Lastly Earl has been a great support for my mom, he always made sure the snow shoveled, garbage put away, and any little thing that needed to fixed was done. I will always remember him walking across the back yard with his pipe "Well- How are ya doing today". He always had time for a story, and cup of tea. This is how we remember Earl. Marie
I remeber the first time Earl came to PEI with my parents. He said he wanted some potatoes to take back to Ontario with him. I went to a local farm and got him ten fifty pound bags of potatoes. You should have seen the look on his face when I pulled in the yard and the car was full of potatoes. He said he was going to drop off potatoes at all the relatives on the way back to Ontario. So I found it really funny when he opened the chip wagon . I always thought we would make a great team in the Fish and Chips department. I thought of this today as I was standing on the grading line and we were packing fifty pound bags of netted gems. Earl will always be a gem!
Dear Joyce,Dave,Dianne I am so sorry to hear of your loss .I wish I could be there .Please know I am thinking of you all . Earl was like a second father to all of us and we will miss him dearly, especially my kids and the morning carmels on their way to school. Earl and Dad are together again probably talking about what a blubbering fool I am .But that is OK . Betty To all the grandchildren you were so lucky to have a graddad like Earl. In years to come things will happen and you will hear things that will trigger a memory of your graddad.
Joyce, Diane and David My thoughts are with you all as your say good-bye to your dad. Viewing the photo gallery that you have shared online brought back many memories of your family. I will never forget picking up my newspapers at Earl's each day, and often going inside to spend my earnings on chips, chocolate bars and seeing all the men hanging hanging out with Earl just shooting the breeze. Earl was a kind member of the St. George community..it will be deeply missed. Shannon (Calvesbert) Carbone
