Obituary of Ida Provenzano

PROVENZANO, Ida Stefanina (nee Parise) - It is with heavy hearts we announce the passing of Ida Stefanina Provenzano (nee Parise), who was suddenly taken from us on Friday, April 19th, 2013. Born on July 23rd, 1938, in Pietrafitta, Calabria. Italy. Ida moved to Canada in 1958, was married on January 9th, 1960 and resided in North Bay and in more recent years Brantford, Ontario. She is the beloved wife of Carmine Provenzano, and cherished mother of Claudio Provenzano, Antonietta (Justin) Walkom, Sandra (Sandy) Watson and Linda (Michael) Pelletier. Endearing Nanna of seven grandchildren, who she adored, Jordyn, Alex, Taylor, Madison, Gabriel, Calabria and Micahlind. She is the loving sister of Ninetta (the late Henry) Spina, Licia (the late Amedeo) Biafore, Italo Parise, Franca (Adriano) Aquino and Anita (John) Kuchta and sister-in-law of Giovanni (the late Antonia) Francesco (Pina) Provenzano, Rosa (Giovanni) Caruso, Anna (Pietro) Anello, Vittoria (Giovanni) Caruso and Nina Parise. Ida is an aunt of many nieces and nephews and their families, cousin, comara and friend to many. She is predeceased by her mother and father, Rosaria and Mario Parise, brother Gaetano Parise, brother-in-law Antonio and sister-in-law Antonia Provenzano. She will be lovingly remembered for her passion for life, her high energy, integrity, strong will and her unconditional love, as well as her generosity, kindness and compassion for others. A remarkable and beautiful woman, inside and out, she will be fondly remembered and sadly missed by her family and friends. Friends will be received at the BECKETT - GLAVES FAMILY FUNERAL CENTRE, 88 Brant Avenue, Brantford, Ontario, on Wednesday, April 25th, 2013, from 2-4 & 7-9 p.m. and Thursday, April 26th, from 9-9:45 a.m. Prayers will be held in the Chapel at 8:30 p.m. Wednesday, all are welcome. A Mass of Christian Burial will be held at Our Lady of Assumption Parish (formerly St. Mary's), 133 Murray Street, Brantford Ontario, on Thursday, April 26th, at 10: a.m. Interment Holy Cross Cemetery. Donations to the Canadian Cancer Society, the Heart & Stroke Foundation or the Arthritis Society would be greatly appreciated. A tree will be planted in memory of Ida in the Beckett - Glaves Memorial Forest. "May you rest peacefully in the palm of God's hand."
