FAWCETT, Laura Jean (nee Murray) - June 25, 1922 - January 10, 2013
Peacefully at St. Joseph's Lifecare Centre, Brantford. Beloved wife of the late Douglas Fawcett. Loving mother of Rick (Ruth) and Randy. Cherished grandmother of Sarah Steele (Jonathan) and David (Brett Lake) and Adrian (Krysti) and proud great-grandmother of Ethan, Dominic, Meredith, Phaedra Steele and Hudson Fawcett. She will be missed by brother Clayton, sister-in-law Dawn, and extended family. Laura was born in Saskatchewan and was the ninth of thirteen children. She travelled to the Brantford area during the War to look for work, where she met and married the love of her life, Doug. She was office administrator at Ontario Conservatory of Music for over 20 years and taught Sunday School at Sydenham Street United Church for 50 years. Laura was a vibrant and loving person who was dedicated to her family and a warm and caring friend to many. She will be sadly missed by all who knew her. Laura's life will be celebrated Thursday, January 17th with visitation at 12:00 pm and a memorial service at 1:00 pm at BECKETT-GLAVES FAMILY FUNERAL CENTRE, 88 Brant Avenue, Brantford. For those who wish, donations may be made to Sydenham Street United Church or St. Joseph's Lifecare Centre. A tree will be planted in memory of Laura in the Beckett-Glaves Memorial Forest.
