Obituary of Murray Davis

Please share a memory of Murray to include in a keepsake book for family and friends.
DAVIS, Murray James - Devoted husband, loving father, beloved son, loyal brother, cherished brother in law, treasured uncle and trusted friend. It is with deep sadness that the family wishes to announce the passing of Murray, after a courageous battle with pancreatic cancer. Murray entered into rest on Sunday July 29, 2012 in his 55th year at the Stedman Community Hospice surrounded by his loving family. Murray leaves behind the loves of his life: his wife and soul mate, Joanne (Vaandering) and children, Shannon, Kelsey (Ryan) and Nicholas. His father Earl and brother Darren are welcoming Murray home with open arms. He is survived by his mother Hazel and his siblings Robert (Darlene), Harold (Janice), Brian (Sue), Gerald (Linda), Bruce, Kevin (Nancy), Karen (Luc) and Tracy. Murray was a much loved son in law to John and Johanna Vaandering and brother in law to Liz (Max), Helen (Fred), Douwe (Wendy), Gerry (Dorothy), Tim (Daphne), Mark (Paul), and Henry (Nadine). Murray was also an incredibly loved uncle to many nieces and nephews. Murray's many hobbies included puttering around the family farm, snowmobiling, horseshoes, golfing and working on his various mini projects with Nick. Murray also loved snuggling up on the couch to watch the Leaf's games with his wife, giving Eskimo kisses with Kelsey and talking school or work with Shannon. Murray graduated from Mohawk College with his ticket as a Millwright and he later went on to work first at McCoy Foundry in Troy, ON and then later MacLean Foundry in Brantford, ON. Murray's battle with cancer was an inspiration to his family and friends alike and his strength will live on in all of us. Murray had an unending passion for life, a true love for his family and laughter that will echo within us. Murray's care, first at the Brantford Cancer Clinic, the CCAC, and later at the Stedman Community Hospice was first rate and incredibly appreciated by his family. Friends will be received at the Beckett-Glaves Family Funeral Centre, 88 Brant Avenue in Brantford on Wednesday August 1st from 2-4pm and 7-9pm. A Celebration of Murray's life will be held at Hope Christian Reformed Church, 64 Buchanan Drive, Brantford, ON on Thursday August 2 at 11am. Interment at Mount Pleasant Cemetery. Donations to the Stedman Community Hospice or Burtch Baptist Church, in honour of Murray, are welcomed. A tree will be planted in memory of Murray in the Beckett-Glaves Memorial Forest.
