Uren, Elsie - In loving memory of Elsie Leona Uren, who went to sleep peacefully in the arms of her Lord, at the Brantford General Hospital, on Thursday, October 20th, 2011. Born in Sioux Lookout, Ontario on March 18th, 1930 to Leonard and Lydia Otto, Elsie spent her younger years growing up on a farm. In 1949 she married Elvin Uren and over the next years of her life she raised three children, became produce manager for IGA Fairway, and then began a series of battles with cancer. Mom was a cancer survivor, having faced it some five different times. She moved to Brantford, Ontario with her husband, where they bought a new home and became an active part of Berean Baptist Church. Elsie was predeceased by her husband in 2009, but is survived by her three children, and their spouses and families; Bob (Patricia) Uren, of Brantford, Bill (Patricia) Uren of Sioux Lookout, Beverly (Donald) Melvin of Brantford, ten grandchildren, twenty-five great-grandchildren, and her sister Florence, of Vancouver. To her family, she is Mother, Mom, Grandma, Gram, Oma, and friend. She fulfilled each roll with unconditional love, is dearly loved and will be so greatly missed. Friends will be received at the Beckett-Glaves Family Funeral Centre, 88 Brant Avenue on Monday from 2 - 3 p.m. A Memorial Service will be held in the Chapel on Monday at 3:00 p.m. Interment Oakhill Cemetery. A tree will be planted in memory of Elsie in the Beckett-Glaves Memorial Forest.
