Obituary of Susanne Kidner

Kidner, Susanne- It is with great sadness that we announce the passing of Susanne Kidner (nee Oster). Susanne passed away peacefully surrounded by her family at the Brantford General Hospital on Sunday October 27th, 2024 in her 85th year. Susanne was a best friend and wife to John (who predeceased her in 2006), loving mother to Paul (Natalie) Kidner, Jane (Michael) Kidner and Andrea (Paul) Kwasnik, wonderful grandmother to Bridget, Ben, Reid, Davis, Holden and Sean, and loyal friend to many. Susanne’s love of music, appreciation for a good book, and above all her devotion to family and friends were her hallmarks. Susanne grew up in Toronto and went to Notre Dame High School where she later returned to teach music. It was during high school that she met and fell in love with John, the love of her life, when they both took part in a high school musical. Susanne also shared a love of astronomy with John, and together they ran their business, Perceptor, with great integrity and enthusiasm for 25 years. Susanne moved to Brantford in 2006 where she was embraced by family and community. In particular, she really enjoyed the years she spent as a volunteer at the Stedman Community Hospice. Above all, Susanne loved her family and was happiest when they were all together at family gatherings or around her pool, sharing laughs, good food and music. Susanne’s charm, warmth and witty sense of humour will be deeply missed by all who knew and loved her. Her family would like to thank the nurses and PSWs at the BGH and our dear family friend and nurse Brigitte who showed our mother such compassion over the years. Friends will be received at the Beckett-Glaves Family Funeral Centre, 88 Brant Ave., Brantford on Saturday November 2nd, 2024 from 11:00 a.m. for visitation followed by a Celebration of Life at 12:15 p.m. A private interment will take place at a later date. Donations to the Stedman Community Hospice would be greatly appreciated. A tree will be planted in memory of Susanne in the Beckett-Glaves Memorial Forest.
