WILSON WELLS
September 19, 1944 – March 30, 2024
In his 80th year, at the Brantford General Hospital, Wilson graduated to heaven to be with His Lord and Saviour Jesus Christ, the night before Resurrection Sunday. Sadness is in the hearts of those left behind, but a glorious entrance for him to be escorted through the gates of heaven.
Wilson will be deeply missed by his beloved wife, Lynnda; sons John (Kim), Gary (Andrea) and daughter, Melanie (Karl); his grandchildren Erin, Raee, Cidney (Kevin), Jackson (Abby) and Palmer (Meaghan). Also, his siblings, Gilbert (Shirley), Earl (LaDonna), his brother-in-law Reg, and many nieces, nephews and friends. He was predeceased by his parents, Walter William and Thresa May; and his sisters, Ada and Louise.
Wilson was born in Stanhope, Newfoundland. He was the ‘baby’ of five siblings. In 1948, after the passing of his sister, Ada, Walter moved his family to Toronto Ontario for what he called a ‘better life’ at that time.
In his younger years, Wilson was an excellent baseball and hockey player. He had a motorcycle and went on weekend trips with family and friends. He enjoyed water-skiing and snowmobiling with his boys, John and Gary. He loved to hear his daughter, Melanie, sing solos at church, and go horse-back riding together.
Wilson worked for the T. Eaton Company at their main warehouse in Toronto where he was in charge of several shipping and receiving docks. It was while Wilson worked at Eaton’s that he placed first in a Fork Lift Rodeo contest in 1970. He was extremely skillful driving a fork lift … and could almost turn it on a dime! Leaving Eaton’s after 32 years, he worked for Cruickshank Motors in Weston, chauffeuring clients around the city. He then worked for Crossroads Christian Communications in Burlington where he was in charge of their Missions Warehouse located in Brantford. He loved all the activity and loading of shipping containers filled with donated goods headed across the ocean to Kenya, Uganda, Haiti etc. His current job, for the last several years, was working at Beckett-Glaves funeral home in Brantford. For a man who no longer wanted to wear a dress suit, shirt and tie, he would dress up in his work uniform and be proud to wear it asking Lynnda to take pictures of him so he could show them off.
Wilson was extremely proud of his children, and grandchildren, often boasting about everything they were up to.
He had a wonderful church family in Brantford where he and Lynnda attended regularly. For the past 9 years, he and Lynnda had a cottage, spending their summers at Maple Grove Christian Retreat Centre near London. They have wonderful friends and great memories.
And lastly, Barnaby, his beloved cat. After 20 years of not wanting a cat, he caved in and ended up loving his cat. Barnaby thought Wilson was the best thing in a cat’s life!
The family is extremely grateful to the Brantford General Hospital ER and ICU staff. He received excellent and supportive care, even while we said our emotional goodbyes.
In lieu of flowers, the family would appreciate donations to New Life Assembly, The Salvation Army, or to any cat rescue or SPCA.
