Obituary of Edna Swanson

EDNA SWANSON (nee SAWATSKY) April 9, 1926-February 14, 2024 Peacefully at Brantford General Hospital, Edna Swanson passed into her heavenly home on February 14th, 2024 at the age of 97. Edna was born on April 9, 1926 at Aberdeen, Saskatchewan, the middle of 9 children. She grew up on the Canadian Prairies through the hard years and hard work of the Great Depression. She married Earl Swanson on May 28, 1949 and provided a stable home for their family of 5 as Earl pursued his career in Western Canada, Ohio, and Oshawa and Paris in Ontario. They were faithful members of the Christian and Missionary Alliance Church. Her last years were spent at Seasons and Charlotte Villa in Brantford. Edna is predeceased by Earl, her beloved husband of 69 years. And by her sisters, Alvena and Tena, and her brothers, Henry, Frank, Allen and Bert. She is survived by her sister, Anne Epp, and her brother, Reuben. Also by her children Valdene Wager (Wayne), Rodney (Sandra), Gordon (Kimberley). Edna was Grandma to 9 grandchildren: Brock Wager (Julie), Renee Gibaldi (Geno), David Wager (Kathryn), Benjamin Swanson (Heather), Grant Wager (Jennifer MacDonald), Rayelle Regular (Jason), Robyn Gerard (Ryan), Hilary Swanson (Brandon Lyn), Erik Swanson (Andrea Farkas). Edna was Great-Grandma to 22 great-grandchildren. The family are grateful to the staff of Charlotte Villa for their care of Edna during the past two years of her life. We would also like to thank the staff of Brantford General Hospital for the excellent care as we said goodbye to Mom. Friends and family are invited to a visitation at Beckett-Glaves Family Funeral, 88 Brant Ave. Brantford, on Wednesday February 21st, 2024 from 12:00 until the service time at 2:00 pm. The funeral service will commence in the chapel at 2:00 pm. Donations to Brantford General Hospital would be appreciated by the family. A tree will be planted in memory of Edna in the Beckett-Glaves Memorial Forest.
