Obituary of Sharon Wittich

Sharon Lillian Wittich (nee Campbell) Passed away peacefully at The Village at University Gates (Long-term care) on January 21, 2024 in her 93 rd year. Sharon was born in Niagara Falls, Ontario to Joseph and Lillian Campbell (Morris) on July 28, 1931. Married to her loving husband, Cecil Wittich, for 63 years. Beloved mother of Jeff (Aileen) Wittich and Garth (Jeanette) Wittich. Much cherished Grandmother and Nana to Mark, Joanna, Nathan, and Julia. Predeceased by her infant daughter, Nancy, her brother, Morris Campbell, and her sister, Adera Holton. Will be missed by her nieces, nephews, friends, and staff at The Village at University Gates. Sharon grew up in St. George, Ontario and attended St. George United Church. She became a teacher and taught art in schools around St. George and Brantford. She met the love of her life, Cecil Wittich, while attending Emmanuel Bible College in Toronto. They were married in St. George the same year that Cecil was ordained as a minister by the United Church of Canada. Over the years, they lived in Manitouwadge, Burgessville, Blyth, and Listowel, before retiring to Waterloo. Together, they enjoyed family and friends, time spent at their cottage on Lake Huron, and ministering to congregations. Sharon also enjoyed listening to music, playing the piano, painting, baking, and caring for her family. Nothing pleased her more than to have family and friends visit. Her home was adorned by her many oil paintings, tea cups and love of music. Sharon was a devout and faith-filled woman who assisted Cecil with preaching, teaching Sunday School, singing in and conducting church choirs. She prayed for others near and far even as her health declined in later years. She moved to The Village at University Gates in 2020. Although leaving her home in Waterloo was difficult, she eventually settled into her new home. Sincere thanks to Sharon’s dedicated medical team at University Gates for their professionalism and compassion. As an expression of sympathy, donations in Sharon’s memory can be made to World Vision Canada. Funeral arrangements have been entrusted with Beckett-Glaves Family Funeral Centre, 88 Brant Ave., Brantford, 519-752-4331. A tree will be planted in memory of Sharon in the Beckett-Glaves Memorial Forest.
