Obituary of Andrea Josephine Balog

Our beloved Mother and Babcia, Andrea Josephine Balog, left us peacefully and quickly on January 15th, 2024 in her 86th year, surrounded by family and friends after a short stay in the hospice.  Andrea did it “her way” as she recently invited others to enjoy several boutique celebrations of her life in her home. The past month she enjoyed hours of visits filled with love, laughter and special memories… often while cheering on her favourite sports team. Andrea is survived by her children, Matthew Balog (Marie), Theresa Pellizzari (former husband, and friend Cliff), and Louise Burbine (Eugene).  Her devoted grandchildren, Lucas and Brooklyn Pellizzari were the light of her life, sharing an everlasting bond and legacy.  Andrea is also survived by her siblings, Stephanie Stirling, Paula McKay (Paul), and Joseph Wolak (Deb), as well as many nieces and nephews.  She was predeceased by her parents, Matthew and Stephanie Wolak, her sister, Virginia Blaha, and brothers-in-law, Richard Blaha and Bill Stirling. Special thanks to her travel partners, Paula McKay and Paul Randorf. Our family is so grateful for her care team; Dr. McNeil, Dr. Stokl, PSW’s and the team of angels at the hospice.  As expressions of sympathy, memorial donations can be made to Stedman Community Hospice where she received such excellent and compassionate care.  There will be a Celebration of Life on February 4th, 2024 from 2 pm – 5 pm at the Rope Factory, 111-27 Sherwood Drive, Brantford.  We welcome all who would like to attend. Arrangements entrusted to Beckett-Glaves Family Funeral Centre where Condolences and memories may be shared. A tree will be planted in memory of Andrea in the Beckett-Glaves Memorial Forest.
