Obituary of Gilbert Mannen

MANNEN, GILBERT - That dreaded day has come, and our hearts are broken. In his 100th year our beloved Father has gone home to be with our Lord and Saviour. Dad will be reunited at last with his beloved wife of 68 years, Grace, he called her his Gracie, who has gone on before. It gives us great comfort to know he will be happy seeing her and being reunited with other family and friends who are waiting for him with open arms. Loving father to four children and their spouses; Alice Rowen, Carl and wife Carol, Les and wife Lana, Joyce and husband Perry Kricak. Dad was a proud and loving Grandpa to eight wonderful grandchildren; Nathan and Nic, Jennifer and Richard, Neil, Daniel, Rebecca and Lee and also thirteen precious great-grandchildren. Dad was a devoted family man, our hero, always there for us. He served his country, worked hard, set a good example, a good and honourable man. He taught himself many skills, had numerous hobbies and interests, loved his family and all God's creatures, great and small. We will miss you Dad, it may be goodbye but your story lives on. Your love is written on our hearts forever. Our family would like to thank the amazing Nurses and staff of the John Noble Home who provided wonderful care and love to our Dad, especially during Covid lockdowns, when our family was unable to be there in person, you all were his surrogate family and got him through it. Thank you, we will always remember you with sincere gratitude. A private family service will be taking place. Funeral arrangements have been entrusted with Beckett-Glaves Family Funeral Centre. Donations, if you so wish, to the SPCA, Dad would have liked that. A tree will be planted in memory of Gilbert in the Beckett-Glaves Memorial Forest. ~Be kind to one another, appreciate every day.~
