Obituary of Maria Martins

Maria Adelina Martins February 15th, 1938 - July 28th, 2022 Adelina was born in Acores and immigrated to Canada in the early 1960’s with her late husband Dinis Martins. While enduring the struggle of being new immigrants they established employment and purchased their first home in Toronto Ontario among the booming Portuguese community. Soon they grew their family with the birth of their first son Henry followed by Lilia and Eduarda. Adelina established employment in many factory positions as well as cleaning positions to support her family and build a better life in Canada for her children. She worked in cleaning services industry until her retirement. Adelina was happy to be in Canada amongst her sisters and many in-laws and many nieces and nephews. Many wonderful holiday celebrations and special gatherings celebrated with family, neighbours and friends. Some of her favourite places to visit were Center Island, Niagara Falls and High Park. In her elderly years she moved to Brantford with her daughter Eduarda and son in law Curtis as well as her two grandchildren Jacob and Olivia. Here she spent the rest of her days enjoying her life and family. She was continuously surrounded by her daughter Lilia, son in law Mario and grandson Alex as well as her son Henry and his children Camryn and Teagan. She passed away in palliative care at Brantford General Hospital on July 28th, 2022 at the age of 84. She is deeply missed and will forever be remembered by those who knew and loved her.
