Obituary of Norma Brooks

Brooks, Norma Marie (Nee Hunt) It is with the deepest sadness that the family announces the sudden passing of their devoted wife and mother, Norma Brooks on April 22, 2022. Left to mourn are her husband, Robert Brooks, and her children, Sherry (Rick) Couchman, Joanne (Lex), Mary-Lynne (Terry) Howell, Bill (Krystyna). She will be forever cherished by her grandchildren, Sarah (Dyllan), Jacob (Stephanie), Bradley, Bennett, Robert, Jenna and Grace, who she dearly loved. She is survived by her siblings, Eleanor (Neil) Fair, Murray (Karen) Hunt, Louise (Late Ralph) Bray, and Verna Hunt. As well as her sisters-in-law, Merne (Boyd) Sharp and Shirley (Late Dennis) Ford and many nieces and nephews. Norma was born on February 18th, 1943, the second child of Sterling and Irene Hunt, and grew up on farms outside of Lynden and Troy, Ontario. She married Bob in 1963 and they moved to the small village of St. George, where they lived together for 59 years. This is where they raised their family and were involved in many community organizations. Norma was a school teacher and spent most of her career teaching Special Education at Greenbrier School in Brantford. After her retirement, she taught at Jerseyville-Langford Co-Op preschool. Norma loved children and always had a soft spot for those she had taught. She was also an extended Mother to the neighbourhood children, and friends of her children. She was always welcoming, supportive and up for fun, and a second Mom to many. Norma was a true and loyal friend, and she loved her friends and family dearly. Norma had struggled the last few years with Dementia and relied on her faith to carry her through her trying times. The family is thankful for the love and kindness shown by the PSW's and Support Services that helped get us through the difficult journey that Dementia is. We would also like to thank the Cambridge Memorial Hospital E.R. staff, and Waterloo Region Paramedics for the help she received after her fall. Cremation has taken place. The family will receive friends and family for visitation on Thursday, May 5th, 2022 from 7-9 p.m. and Friday May 6th, 2022 from 1-2 p.m. at Beckett-Glaves Family Funeral Centre, 88 Brant Ave., Brantford 519-752-4331. A Celebration of Life will take place in the Chapel at 2 p.m. on Friday, May 6th, 2022. A family interment will take place at a later date. If desired, memorial donations can be made to the Alzheimer's Society of Brant to directly help families in our area dealing with dementia. A tree will be planted in memory of Norma in the Beckett-Glaves Memorial Forest. A life well lived. Rest in Peace, Mom. We love you and will never forget all you have done for us.
