Obituary of Eugene Bielawski

Bielawski, Eugene Martin- Born Eugeniusz Marcin At the age of 100 years, with his daughter Elizabeth by his side, Eugene peacefully died on December 29th, 2021 at St Joseph's Lifecare Centre, Brantford Ontario. Eugene was predeceased by his son Jonathan (1982), by his beloved wife Brenda (2003) and by infant grandsons Isaac (1993) and Kyle (1994). He was deeply loved by his children, Dr Joanna (Louis Steyn), Elizabeth (David Johnston) and Drew (Nancy) and was a most wonderful and loving grandfather to Eugenie, Martin, Beatrice (Jacques Joubert), Hayden, Keegan (Isanna Biglands) and Liam (Julie Chou). He will be very much missed by nephews Edward and Peter and cousins Zenon and Agnieszka. Eugene was born on November 12, 1921 in Warsaw, Poland. In 1939 he joined the underground Polish Home Army and fought in the 1944 Warsaw Uprising. Escaping from the forced POW march westwards, he made his way to join the Polish-British forces in Italy. After demobilization he studied at the Polish University College (London) and qualified as a professional engineer. In 1953 Eugene emigrated to Canada with Brenda and infant Jonathan. They settled in Brantford where Eugene designed small and major appliances for Westinghouse. After retirement he and Brenda went to the Philippines on voluntary assignment with the Canadian Executive Service Organization. Eugene lived an extraordinary and remarkable life. This humble valiant warrior will always be remembered for his great intellect, courage and dignity. Cremation has occurred, with interment of ashes to be at a later date. The family wishes to acknowledge the deep compassion and friendship of Kari Ann Kidder and the tender and loving care provided by all at St Joseph's. Funeral arrangements have been entrusted with Beckett-Glaves Family Funeral Centre, 88 Brant Ave., Brantford, 519-752-4331. In lieu of flowers, donations to St Joseph's Lifecare Centre would be appreciated. A tree will be planted in the Beckett-Glaves Memorial Forest in memory of Eugene.
