Obituary of Ruth Marjorie Allen
Please share a memory of Ruth to include in a keepsake book for family and friends.
Allen, Ruth Marjorie (nee Elgar) in her 95th year passed away peacefully at home with her loving family by her side on Thursday, November 4, 2021. Born in Millbrook, Ontario in 1927. Beloved wife of the late Donald Allen (1988). Devoted mother to Kenneth, Gordon, Vance and Sharon (Philip) Boncoddo. Cherished Grandmother of Connor, John and Julia. Predeceased by parents Percival and Pearl Elgar, siblings John Elgar, Nettie Kaye (Elgar), Maretta Flynn (Elgar) and her twin brother Emerson Elgar. Ruth was a woman of strong faith, being a member of St Mark’s church since 1965. She served on the Ladies Guild and participated in bible studies. Ruth was a strong, independent and energetic woman. At the same time was a social butterfly who really enjoyed and cherished her friendships. Always had the time to sit down and have a chat over a tea. If there was a dance floor, look out Ruth was on it. She was ready to share some of the line dancing steps she had learned at the Beckett building. Ruth crafted many rugs and pictures with her J.J. Rug Hooking group. Ruth’s strong faith in the Lord gave her peace in her passing after her long journey in life; knowing she will start a new eternal journey with that special someone and beloved family and friends. The family would like to thank the caring staff of Bayshore Home Care, in particular Geeta and Marg for their care and compassion. Family and friends will be received at St. Mark’s Anglican Church, 155 Memorial Drive, Brantford on Monday, November 8th, 2021 from 11:30 a.m. -1:00 p.m. Funeral service will follow at 1:00 p.m. Interment at Mt. Hope Cemetery. As expressions of sympathy, donations in Ruth’s memory may be made to the Alzheimer’s Society. Funeral arrangements have been entrusted with Beckett-Glaves Family Funeral Centre, 88 Brant Ave., Brantford, 519-752-4331.
A tree will be planted in the Beckett-Glaves Memorial Forest in memory of Ruth.
