DRAYCOTT, Elspeth Mary (nee: Gemmell) - Peacefully holding the hand of the love of her life for 63 years on the beautiful sunny morning of Saturday, August 14th, 2021, in her 89th year. Daughter of the late Thomas and Billie Gemmell, and sister of the late Robert Gemmell. Beloved wife for 63 years on earth and for all eternity of Douglas Charles Thomas Draycott. Much loved mother of the late Pamela Draycott. Not only grandmother but Best friend to Meaghan Spong (nee: Kelley) (Nicholas Spong) and the late Liam Kelley(2004) Proud Great Grandmother (Gigi) to Madelyn Spong. She will also be sadly missed by many other extended family members and close family friends. Elspeth was born on September 2,1930 and worked as a Bell Telephone Operator in her early 20's, which she had fond memories of. She met her forever sweetheart Doug, when she had stopped to visit a cousin on a stopover, between flights while Elspeth was in travels to visit her own relatives in Europe; and they vowed to share eternity with one another in August of 1958. They share 63 years of incredible memories from good times spent at their cottage up at Sausage Lake, portaging in Algonquin, many trips to Niagara on the Lake, and building a wonderful life and family together. Some of Elsie's favourite past times were crewel embroidery, entertaining family and friends and spending time with her best friend Meaghan sharing a glass of wine and having many a laugh. She was loved immensely til the very end, and will be fondly remembered for all eternity through stories and memories shared between family and friends. As per Elsie's wishes, cremation has taken place and private interment with family and friends to follow. The family would like to extend their heartfelt thanks to The Palliative Outreach Team from the Stedman Hospice, special mention to Dr.Singh and his nurse Lara. CBI Nursing special mention to Diane, and to the incredible care staff at Queensview Retirement. For their compassion and professionalism and promotion for Elsie to make her journey comfortably and dignified. As you always said - “The memories are in your heart, and you will carry them with you always” Our hearts are forever full.
