Sibbick, Veronica Margaret (nee Oros) Our family sadly announces the gentle passing of Vera Margaret Sibbick, 97 on Thursday, December 10th 2020 from the advanced stages of Alzheimer’s disease. Vera was a dedicated wife to Austin Sibbick (predeceased) of over 76 years and caring mother to Sylvia McCurdy (Dave Jenkins), and Delaine Sibbick (predeceased). Her grandchildren, John Kopacsi (Laura), Elizabeth Venneri (Lou), and Marni Kopacsi (Dave), mourn her loss as her legacy, and this generation comes to its end. Great-grandchildren Chelsea, Lindsay, Erik, Lucas, Austin, Ian and Aidan share in our collective grief. Vera loved being with people, and taking care of them. Her children, her grandchildren and even her great grandchildren never lifted a finger, did a dish, or made a meal while Vera was able. Vera’s favourite pastime was her family, and she needed them close. She glowed when she shared stories of her family: her mother and father, her brothers and sisters, and later her own immediate family. She kept a beautiful house, and garden, and shared her successes with many. In her time, she worked hard as a cleaning manager, was an avid bowler, and an unbelievable euchre player. Vera taught all of her grandchildren to play euchre and many other card games. Vera held memberships in community groups, and also attended Balfour United Church. Vera loved to travel, and was always happy to be on a bus tour, or a road trip, and never denied herself some fun at the casino in the penny arcade. Our family would like to personally thank the Orchard Terrace Retirement and Long Term Care facility in Stoney Creek for the endearing compassion and love shown to Vera. To the nurses, caregivers, and personal support workers who helped Vera, words can never express how important your show of kindness has been for us. In honor of Vera, donations can be made to the Alzheimers’ Society of Canada. Due to the current pandemic, there will be no visitation. A Memorial will be held for the friends and family at a later time to be determined. Funeral arrangements have been entrusted with Beckett-Glaves Family Funeral Centre, 88 Brant Ave., Brantford, 519-752-4331. A tree will be planted in memory of Vera in the Beckett-Glaves Memorial Forest
