Obituary of Iris Foris

FORIS, IRIS MAY (Norman) on November 27th, 2016 passed away at the Brantford General Hospital. Survived by several nieces and nephews in Norwich, Hamilton and British Columbia. Pre-deceased by her father, Ellis Norman in 1946, by her mother, Elizabeth (Norman) Heard in 1964. Also predeceased by her husband, Joseph Foris in 1981 and her son, Raymond in 1991. She was also predeceased by long time friend, Arnold Higgins in 2005. Mrs. Foris served in the Canadian Women’s’ Army Corp reserve for 14 years and rose to the rank of Staff Sergeant. She served with the 56th Field Regiment for 11 years and with the Argyll and Sutherland Highlanders of Canada (Princess Louise’s) Regiment for 3 years. Mrs. Foris retired from St. Joseph’s Hospital in 1990 where she worked as a R.P.N for 25 years. A strong passion in Mrs. Foris’ long life was her love of horses and riding. She also acted as a volunteer at St. Joseph’s Life Care Centre. She resided at Smokey Hollow Estates until early 2016 and enjoyed many friends during her time there. Since May, 2016, she has resided at River View Terrace. Ruth and Don wish to thank the staff there for their care and concern. Thanks also to the emergency nurses at the Brantford General for their kindness and care despite their burden of over-work. For their ongoing care and compassion, thanks to Dr. Tim Hutton, Dr. Bentley-Taylor and Valier Stam, and thanks to Joseph Suppa, funeral director at Beckett-Glaves for the sincere and compassionate attention at this time. In respect of Iris’s last wishes, cremation has been arranged through the Beckett-Glaves Family Funeral Centre, (519) 752-4331. There will be no service or visitation.
