Obituary of Geraldine Whitaker

Whitaker, Geraldine Passed away peacefully at the St. Joseph's Lifecare Centre, Brantford on Thursday, March 17th, 2016 in her 96th year. Beloved wife of the late John Oliver Whitaker. Loving mother of Dianne (Geraldine's loving caregiver Wally) McTaggart. Mom will be lovingly remembered by her grandsons Mitchell, and Murray (Julie), her great-granddaughters Sofia and Isabel, and her nephew Harvey Hopkins of British Columbia. Predeceased by her brother Harvey Hopkins, and sisters Evelyn Keepe, and Vera Pratt. She will be fondly remembered by all of her family members and friends. Geraldine was a very active member of Brant Avenue United, and Farringdon Independent Churches. She donated a good deal of her life as a volunteer with Sunnybrook Veterans Hospital, the Diabetes Association, and establishing the first Daffodil Day Drive for Cancer in Leaside, Toronto. At Geraldine's request, cremation has been arranged through the Beckett-Glaves Family Funeral Centre, (519) 752-4331. A Private Family Service will be held. Interment Farringdon Burial Ground. As an expression of sympathy, gifts to the Canadian Cancer Society, or the Heart and Stroke Foundation would be appreciated.
