Edith Doreen Warwick (nee Bass)
Born June 19, 1920 in Northamptonshire, England. Passed away peacefully at Hankinson House, with her family at her side, on July 3, 2015. She was preceded in death by her husband Stephen Thomas Albert Warwick who was the love of her life. He will be happy to have a good cup of tea made by her once again.
In her 95 years Doreen lived a full and meaningful life and will be missed and remembered with much love and many smiles by her family and friends. Doreen served on the Board of Directors of TOPS Club International for many years and touched many with her open heart and warm smile. She travelled extensively across Canada and the US during those years and formed many life long friendships which she treasured dearly. Doreen filled many roles. Wife, Mother, Nana, Granna, Sister, Aunt, Friend. She carried each of them well. However those of us that loved her the most often referred to her as “The Queen” because of the proud and regal way that she carried herself through life. We believe this term of endearment secretly delighted her. The world saw her as strong and determined but inside there was a soft and gentle soul who loved deeply and walked quietly and often felt insecure. We were blessed and privileged to know that special part of her. She walked this world and handled whatever came her way with grace. She lived her life well and now she sleeps gently with all of our love tucked forever in her dreams. Doreen leaves behind four children. Ann (May) Howe, Susan Woolsey, Stephen Warwick and Lynn Miles. Her daughter-in-law Lisa and son-in-laws David, Louis, Bill and Allan, her grandchildren Colleen, Gregory, Jennifer, Vanessa, Katie, Eric and Courtney (who were the lights that shone brightest in her life) and their families, nine great grandchildren, her nephew Lauren Goodfellow (Jackie and family), her sister Norma in England, nieces and nephews in both England and Canada and her very dear friend Carol Sirvinskas, to whom we give special thanks. Special thanks to all at Hankinson House Hospice, and all the Home Care staff for your care of our dear mother. Her wishes will be honoured with cremation and a private gathering to inter her ashes at a later date. Arrangements entrusted to the BECKETT-GLAVES FAMILY FUNERAL CENTRE, 88 Brant Avenue. Donations in Doreen's memory may be made to the Stedman Community Hospice, or charity of choice, would appreciated by the family.
