CLARKE, James Robert "Jim" - Passed away peacefully with this daughters by his side, at the Brantford General Hospital, on Sunday, May 15th, at the age of 66. Jim is survived by his children Trudy (Kevin) Taziar, Jennifer (Lee) McCarthy, and Jeff, his grandsons Calvin and Sebastian Taziar, his brothers Murray (Marguerite) and Harold "Harv" (Sheila). He will also be fondly remembered by his many nieces, nephews and friends. Predeceased by his father William Rufus Clarke and mother Eleanor Defurlong Clarke (nee Boyce), and his brothers Bill, Don and Eg. Jim was born in Ottawa but moved to Brantford at the age of 3. After graduating from Pauline Johnson Collegiate he began working at Sternson Ltd. where he remained for over 30 years in a variety of positions including lab technician and researcher until they closed. He then worked with Protective Barriers Inc., Hamilton as a chemist until his health forced him to retire. In his younger days, Jim was an active member of the Birkett Lane Badminton Club and later the Racquet Club playing both squash and tennis. He learned to play the trumpet as a member of the Telephone City Music Society band and was a dedicated coach, manager and statistician for more than 10 years with the Brantford Minor Lacrosse Association. Despite his deteriorating health, Jim was able to enjoy playing golf for the last few years with the Air force Golf League. The family would like to extend a special thank you to the Brantford General Hospital Cancer Clinic and the Palliative Care Unit for all of their care and compassion. Friends will be received at the Beckett-Glaves Family Funeral Centre, 88 Brant Ave., Brantford on Wednesday from 7 - 9 p.m. and on Thursday from 2 - 3 p.m. A Memorial Service will follow in the Chapel on Thursday at 3:00 p.m. Cremation. In lieu of flowers, donations to the Canadian Cancer Society or a charity of your choice would be appreciated. A tree will be planted in memory of Jim in the Beckett-Glaves Memorial Forest.
