Obituary of Doris Kelly

KELLY, Doris Irene (nee Lindsay) - Passed away peacefully at her home on Sunday, January 23rd, 2011 in her 96th year. Left to mourn her loss are daughters Kathi Durham (Barry McCrea), Karen (Ron) Jones, Kim DaSilva, daughter-in-law Sandra Durham and sister-in-law Rene Berryman. She is predeceased by her husbands "Bill" Ewart Kelly (1990), George Durham, and George Bowman, sons Gary Durham (1992), and Robert Durham (1994), her parents Della and Herbert Lindsay and siblings Lloyd Lindsay, Laverne Featherstone and Evelyn Stewart. Fondly remembered by her grandchildren Lenny DaSilva, Krista, Matt, Cam (Sherri), and Brendan Jones, Chris (Natalie) Durham, Susan (Don) MacDonald, Lindsay (Craig) Raymond, Jamie McCrea, and Jordan Legere, her great-grandchildren, and nephews Bill (Yukiko) Featherstone, and Don (Joyce) Dougherty. Born in Selkirk, Doris went to nursing school, got married and then became a hairdresser when widowed with two young boys. In the 50's she operated Durham's Confectionery and never lost touch with her North Ward reunion group, who still keep a chair reserved in her honour at their annual event. For many years she worked at Telephone Answering Service where she became a supervisor and met her husband Bill. She always made new friends which include her neighbors Jan, John and Donna, who were always there for her, along with John Cochrane and the Central Presbyterian Church. Friends will be received at the Beckett-Glaves Family Funeral Centre, 88 Brant Ave. on Wednesday from 4 - 6 p.m. A Funeral Service will be held in the Chapel on Thursday at 11:00 a.m. Interment Mt. Hope Cemetery. Donations to the Central Presbyterian Church, the Ontario Federation for Cerebral Palsy, Diabetes Association or a charity of your choice would be appreciated. A tree will be planted in memory of Doris in the Beckett-Glaves Memorial Forest.
