Obituary of Marian Holmes

HOLMES, Marian - Suddenly after a brief illness at the Brantford General Hospital on Monday, January 3rd, 2011 in her 88th year. Feeling blessed to have had her with us for over 87 years, she will be fondly remembered by her daughter Linda Keresturi & Sylvia (Al) Davison, her grandchildren Kim (Scott), Jim (Tera), Derek (Lynn), Jennifer (Jack), Paul, and Dawn (Sean), and 13 great-grandchildren. She is predeceased by her husband George (82), her daughter Sandra (89), grandson Jeff (89), great-granddaughters Brianna and Ashley (98), and her brother Allan (85). She is also predeceased by her parents Reginald and Ida Silverthorne. Marian spent her lifetime teaching in various country schools from 1940 - 1986 after graduating from Teacher's College, earning her bachelor's degree from McMaster University. She loved music, played the organ and piano, was a wizard at crossword puzzles, and adored her cat Buttercup. Friends will be received at the Beckett-Glaves Family Funeral Centre, 88 Brant Ave. on Thursday from 2 - 4, and 7 - 9 p.m., and on Friday from 10 - 11 a.m. A Funeral Service will follow in the Chapel on Friday at 11:00 a.m. Cremation. Interment Mt. Hope Cemetery. Donations to Camp Trillium Rainbow Lake, Waterford would be appreciated. A tree will be planted for Marian in the Beckett-Glaves Memorial Forest.
