Condolences
Nan and family, I am deeply saddened to learn of Mark's passing. I give thanks for the opportunity to have known him, learned from him and been inspired by him. As a young person at Colborne St. United Church I was encouraged to sing and play french horn at any opportunity. Mark so graciously provided accompaniment not only for church events, but numerous times for the Kiwanis Music Festival. One of my fondest and cherished memories of his playing will be an organ fanfare and playing of the Westminster Abbey tune as the processional at my wedding (He had wanted to use it for a procession for a long time and I wanted something different. To this day when the tune is played I think of that special moment of my life.) He also very kindly agreed to play the Widor Toccata which was truly above and beyond most wedding recessionals Colborne was accustomed to. I have been blessed by knowing Mark. Love and blessings to Nan and family during this difficult time. Mark, you have earned a special place at the organ bench on high.
To Mrs. Perry and family I will always remember Mr. Perry with fondness. His funny stories and smile I will remember. He touched lives with his music and service. My thoughts and prayers are with the family. Lisa Marie Hooper and Lucy Hooper
We are very sad at the loss of Markwell. He was a kind, gentle and talented individual. His death is a loss to his friends and to the music world. We are happy to have known him. Our heartfelt condolences to Nan, Laurene, Doug, Susan and other members of his family. Sincerely, Lynn and David Haylock
Dear, dear Nan, Laurene and Dougie (!) -- What a wonderful, amazing, kind, gentle and talented man!! He -- and you too, Nan -- were more than major influences on my life. A big part of who I am and how I've conducted my career are because of you two! And like so many other "kids", I looked on you as second parents! My mind is whirling with so many stories -- the piano/organ duos at Colborne, the last-minute changes to that Mazurka one competition morning, the brilliant (well, at least in my mind) piano duets with Laurene -- What a wonderful childhood and adolescence I had because of the Perry family!! I have no doubt that my Mom and Dad were there on the welcoming shore on Monday! And the heavens are still resounding with all the organists united in a thunderous rendition of the Widor Toccata -- a triumphal tribute! "Good night, sweet prince. May flights of angels sing thee to thy rest." With much love, Ann
We are thinking of all of you. Remember you will be in our thought and prayers. Laurene remember the wonderful words you shared with Mom and I to help us and now you and your family can take those same words to help all of you through this very difficult time. Please feel free to call if you would like to. Lesley,Paul and families.
