BABCOCK, John "Jack" Alexander Wesley - Passed away peacefully at Stedman Community Hospice in the early hours of Friday, June 5th, 2009 with family keeping vigil, at the age of 78. John was predeceased by "the most beautiful woman in the world," his wife, Esther (nee MacLean), parents (Wesley and Jean), sisters, June (Rusty McDonald) and Isobel. He is survived by his children Janet (Rick), Sandy (Sue), Tim (Kathy), Jim (Patti, the "Angel"), Dan and Peter. Two of his sons, John and David, predeceased him. John was also the grandfather of Jennifer, Kate, Ryan, Alisha (Donnie), Kristi, Brittany, Ashley, and Carole-Anne and the great-grandfather of Mia. He will be missed by his large extended family (Naomi, Bill, Erma, Ian) scattered across this fabulous country. The family sends special thanks to family physician Doctor Stahlbrand; Doctor Gregoire (BGH), the nursing staff at Med B6 (BGH), especially Barb and Mary, and the exceptional staff at Stedman Community Hospice that provided such dignified care to Dad in his last 10 days. John spent several years donating his time as a coach of hockey teams at Wesley United Church. A husband, father and hardworking man (Massey Ferguson, retired) - all that and a dedicated Leafs fan. Gone but never forgotten. Friends will be received at the Beckett-Glaves Family Funeral Centre, 88 Brant Avenue, on Sunday, June 14th from 2-4 p.m. and Monday, June 15th from 11 a.m. - 1 p.m. A Funeral Service will be held in the Chapel at 1:00 p.m. on Monday. In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to Stedman Community Hospice or Wesley United Church. A tree will be planted in memory of John in the Beckett - Glaves Memorial Forest.
