Obituary of Irene Smith

SMITH, Irene Emily (nee Wiedrick), (Wakeling) - "The life beyond, shall this life forever transcend, and death is the beginning not the end." Peacefully at the Brantford General Hospital on Wednesday, February 18th, 2009. Irene Emily Smith in her 93rd year went home to be with her Lord and Savior. Predeceased by much loved husband Leonard Smith (1992) and earlier by devoted husband Rev. Fred Wakeling (1965); also by a son Douglas Wakeling (1968) and a grandson Jason Knorr (1972). Irene is greatly missed by daughter Doreen (Bob) Knorr, and her son Donald (Carmel) Wakeling. She is survived by three grandchildren Lisa, Bradley and Darcy, and great-grandchildren Alysha, Peter, Chad, Jason, Brandon and Annabell. Irene was faithful in her duties as a Pastor's wife and a dedicated worker in any church in which she found herself. In later years she was a member of Central Baptist Church and a worker in the afternoon Women's Missionary Society. Friends will be received at the Beckett-Glaves Family Funeral Centre, 88 Brant Avenue, on Sunday, February 22nd from 7-9 p.m. A Funeral Service will be held in the Chapel on Monday at 11 a.m. Donations to a charity of your choice would be greatly appreciated by the family. "The Lord is near to all who call upon Him". Ps.145:18. A tree will be planted in memory of Irene in the Beckett - Glaves Memorial Forest.
