Obituary of Winnifred Hicks

HICKS, Winnifred Dorinda - Passed away peacefully at her home, on Monday, June 23rd, 2008, in her 92nd year. Beloved wife of the late Sydney Hicks (July, 1988). Winnie was born in Collingwood, Ontario on April 17th, 1917, daughter of Ernest Fred Dover and Annie Georgina Dover (nee Kirby). She is predeceased by her brothers Ernie and Nelson Dover, and her sister Dorothy Armstrong. She is survived by her brothers Tom of St. Catharines, several nieces and nephews on both sides of the family and many friends. She will also be fondly remembered by her friend Shirley Reeves, who was devoted to caring for her in her final years. Friends will be received at the Beckett-Glaves Family Funeral Centre, 88 Brant Avenue, Brantford, on Thursday, June 26th from 1-3 p.m. A Funeral Service will follow in the Chapel on Thursday at 3 p.m. Cremation. A tree will be planted in memory of Winnifred in the Beckett-Glaves Memorial Forest.
