Obituary of Gertrude Kerr

KERR, Gertrude Pauline (nee Read) - Passed away peacefully on Saturday, October 4th, 2014. Beloved wife of the late Donald S.M. Kerr for over 65 years. Loving mother of Robert Kerr (Christiane), David Kerr (Susan), Elspeth Ruge (Michael), and Kathryne McIntyre (Donald). Grandmother of nine and great-grandmother of eleven. Gert enjoyed immensely her friends and parties at the family cottage near Dunnville for many decades. An avid traveller, she always told her kids and grand-kids "go while you can." Trips to the family cabin at North Tea Lake and sailing were also popular with Gert. Her passion for bridge and curling continued all her life. The family and the "Lady in blue" send their heartfelt gratitude to the entire staff at Telfer Place for their ongoing compassion and care throughout her entire stay at Telfer Place. In addition, a special thanks to Shelley, Dr. McNeil and the visiting nurses who ensured that our Mother's final days were comfortable. At Gertrude's request cremation has already taken place and a private family service is planned for a later date. Donations to your local food bank, the Brant S.P.C.A. or a charity of your choice would be greatly appreciated. A Tree will be planted in memory of Gert in the Beckett-Glaves Memorial Forest.
