Please share a memory of Esther to include in a keepsake book for family and friends.
BABCOCK, Esther Easton (nee MacLean), age 76 - Passed away peacefully at Brantford General Hospital in the early hours of Monday, 7 April, 2008 with family and loved ones at her side. Esther was born on April 21, 1931 in Florence, Cape Breton to Ken and Mary MacLean. Esther was the eldest of a family of 7 children including Naomi, Dan (Dorothy), Bill (Larine), Angus, Erma (Bill) and Ian (Dawn). Her Aunt Christina MacLeod also survives her and was able to visit Esther to offer love, support and prayers. She married John (Jack) Babcock on 24 May, 1951 in Brantford. Since that time, Esther focused on being a loving wife, and wonderful and caring mother. Esther was a full-time rink mother, sewed countless Cub, Scout and Cadet badges (always at the last moment) and treated many cuts and bruises. One of Esther's talents was always finding a way to share her love with all of her children. She is survived by her children Janet (Rick), Sandy (Sue), Tim (Kathy), Jim (Patti), Dan and Peter. Two of her sons, John and David, predeceased her. Esther was also the Grandmother of Jennifer, Kate, Ryan, Alisha (Donnie), Kristi, Brittany, Ashley, and Carole-Anne and the Great-grandmother of Mia. She'll be sadly missed by her large extended family scattered from coast to coast. Special thanks goes out to the kind and caring staff at Hamilton and Brantford General Hospitals, Doctors Stahlbrand and Madison, cousins Marilyn, Linda and Mary Lou, and especially niece Kim Baker and nephew Cameron MacLean. At Esther's request a private family funeral has taken place.
A wife, mother and a coalminers daughter.
Gone but never forgotten.
A tree will be planted in memory of Esther in the Beckett-Glaves Memorial Forest.
