Obituary of G. Peter MacNames

MacNAMES, George "Peter" - Passed away peacefully at home on Thursday, September 26, 2013 in his 83rd year. Beloved husband of the late Joan (2002). Loving father of Laura MacNames Jacobs (Neil Appleby), Cynthia (Paul) Bennett, Julia MacNames (Howard Cooper), Wendy (Thierry) Mayeur and stepfather of Wanda Mowry (Tom Gordon), the late Kevin Mowry (Kate), Ron Claus (Lori), Melissa Claus and Jill Claus. Grandfather of Dylan, Sara, Marina, Peter, Hayden, Avery, Christopher, Emily, Sandy, Cassie, Ron Jr, Devan, Kailey and great-grandfather of Max, Kieran, Kyle and Dallas. Predeceased by his ex-wife Joyce (2013). Forever passionate about his family, music, sailing and the English language; Peter endeared himself to many. The consummate gentleman; he encouraged the positive attributes of all he encountered. For 31 years Peter excelled as a financial analyst, later becoming Manager of Corporation Services at the Financial Post. A self-taught jazz pianist, playing solely by ear; Peter later became Vice-President/Co-Founder of The Brantford Jazz Festival. Friends will be received at the Beckett-Glaves Family Funeral Centre, 88 Brant Avenue, Brantford on Tuesday, October 1st from 12- 1 p.m. directly followed by a Memorial Service. Cremation has taken place. In lieu of flowers, donations to the Canadian Cancer Society would be appreciated. A private interment of ashes will occur at Greenwood Cemetery, Brantford. A tree will be planted in memory of Peter in the Beckett-Glaves Memorial Forest.
