Obituary of Harvey Featherston

FEATHERSTON, Harvey James "Harv" - March 26, 1926 - September 21, 2011. Peacefully at the Brantford General Hospital, in his 86th year. Loved dearly by his wife Marjorie (Bamford) since the day they met, nearly 60 years ago. Harv was victorious over prostate cancer for more than 19 years. Kind, gentle Dad of Kim (Eleanor), Marshall (Lynn), Rob (Kim), and Nancie (Peter Goodall). Missed by his grandchildren Jason, Shelley, Bailey, and Riley Featherston and Deizel Goodall. Uncle of Barbara Plant, and Joan Featherston and 10 other nieces and nephews. Predeceased by his parents Harris and Mae Featherston, and his brother Howard and his wife Marie. Brother-in-law of Freeman (Juanita) Bamford, Joan Stewart (Nelson), Marilyn Bamford (the late Paul), Ruth Jones, and Doris Bouchard (the late Peter). Harv worked in many phases of the dairy industry, milking Jersey cows, as an R.O.P. Inspector (milk tester) for Agricultural Canada, processing milk at Hewitt's Dairy, Hagersville and as one of the last men to deliver milk door to door. Harv was a 60 year member of Onondaga Masonic Lodge, a 15 year original member of the Onondaga Volunteer Fire Department, a charter member of the Cottonwood Mansion Preservation Society and member of the Paris Agriculture Society. Friends will be received at BECKETT-GLAVES FAMILY FUNERAL CENTRE, 88 Brant Avenue, Saturday, September 24, 2011 from 2-4 & 7-9 p.m. A Funeral Service will be held in the Chapel on Sunday at 3:00 p.m. Cremation to follow. A Private Family Interment to take place at Salt Springs Church Cemetery. In lieu of flowers donations to Ronald MacDonald House, Hamilton or the S.P.C.A., Brant in Harv's memory would be greatly appreciated. A tree will be planted in memory of Harv in the Beckett-Glaves Memorial Forest.
